Standard 1: Purpose and Direction
The school maintains and communicates a purpose and direction that commit to high expectations for learning as well as shared values and beliefs about teaching and learning.

The school engages in a systematic, inclusive, and comprehensive process to review, revise, and communicate a school purpose for student success.
Cedar Rapids Public School staff and administration participate in regular data retreats to assess student learning, student needs, and school climate to review, revise and communicate appropriate curriculum, strategies, and interventions to meet their goals.
**IndIcator 1.2
The school leadership and staff commit to a culture that is based on shared values and beliefs about teaching and learning and supports challenging, equitable educational programs and learning experiences for all students that include achievement of learning, thinking, and life skills.
The school's mission, vision, and belief statements are posted prominently throughout the school building and communicated regularly in the school's newsletter. Staff reviews this information at the start of each school year and reaffirm their belief that all students can succeed. Teachers have also created belief statements regarding the teaching profession and their commitment to support one another.

The school’s leadership implements a continuous improvement process that provides clear direction for improving conditions that support student learning.
CRPS faculty meet as a whole twice each year to examine student assessment data to monitor school improvement goals progress. K-6 teachers, our Title I teacher, and Educational Resources reading consultant meet monthly to examine students' progress, curricular adjustments, and interventions as needed.
